Imereti region, one of the most beautiful areas in Georgia, is located between mountain belts of Lesser and Greater Caucasus. The history of the region dates back to ancient times. There are more than 200 monuments, including two which are registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The region also has numerous natural attractions such as mountain trails, lakes, waterfalls, caves and mineral water springs. Imereti, just like whole Georgia, is known for natives hospitality and cuisine. From year-to-year, Georgia is an increasingly attractive destination for foreign travelers due to its huge tourist potential. An comprehensive preparation inhabitants, tourism sector employees and local administrations was essential.

The main goal of the project was to carry out first activities connected with development of tourism in the Kutaisi city. The objectives were achieved through:

  • Creation of tourist attractions’ descriptions and a map of Kutaisi city and its nearest surroundings
  • Distribution of printed materials in English and Georgian language in restaurants, hotels, interested
  • institutions and information points

  • Trainings for tourist guides, for beneficiaries starting a work in the tourism sector
  • Promotion in social networks
  • Designing and launching the first version of the website
