CULTURAL EDUCATION

One of the ICAD Foundation’s priorities is to actively reach social groups exposed to exclusion or marginalization and having difficult access to events related to culture, art, history or protection of cultural goods; this group includes people with all types of disabilities, residents of small towns or seniors.

We see the need to collect, digitize and archive the accounts of living witnesses of the past regarding historical events, social and cultural life, and organize meetings and workshops with them as a way of historical, social and cultural education both in large centers and in small towns and villages.

We believe that thanks to cultural or historical education, both children, young people and adults have a chance to learn about their culture heritage and pass on this knowledge to future generations. Awareness of the cultural heritage of one’s own country, but also of other nationalities, directly translates into mutual understanding between generations and internationally. In this way, cultural or historical education becomes the basis for dialogue between generations and between nations, arousing mutual interest in its miscellaneous and otherness.

Active participation in creating cultural content within various social groups, breaking the stereotype of its passive reception, open to what is different, is unknown to the ICAD Foundation as a priority that we implement in our projects. In addition, we try to engage in our activities and combine cultural institutions and schools with common initiatives, thereby enriching the educational and cultural offer and teaching active participation in culture.

The ICAD Foundation cooperates with specialists from the field of past research in the implementation of its projects: historians, art historians, archaeologists, ethnographers, artists documenting history and traditional culture, and filmmakers documentary filmmakers.
