The development of tourism in Georgia and the growing interest in mountain regions of this country have caused us to turn to a new issue, which is actions to increase the safety of tourists in the Georgian part of the Caucasus range.
Cooperation with Janusz Brożek from the Department of Specialist Services Geopl.eu established by the chairwoman of the Board of Edyta Tyc resulted in the creation of the project: “Integration and raising the qualifications and operational capabilities of mountain rescue services in Mestia”, implemented in the Svaneti region in 2016. As part of project activities the Mountain Rescue in Georgia organization – Safety in the mountains – was created and equipped with specialized equipment.
Department of Specialised Services (Specialized Services Department Geopl.eu ltd.) after the end of the project independently supported the further development of the organization, which significantly influenced the possibility of implementing the next project of the ICAD Foundation in this region: “Support for administration in creating mountain rescue structures in Georgia, the Svanetia region and the Kazbeg massif region in 2018-2020.
