GEORGIA
The conflict in the South Caucasus has opened a new chapter for Georgia on the international stage. The independent country has become a place of meetings and visits and began to be perceived as a potential business partner. During this time, both the Georgian administration and many non-governmental organizations began to implement activities supporting the development of the country. This coincided with the establishment of the ICAD Foundation, which quickly became involved in work in this extremely interesting region of the world.
Georgia attracted us in 2012. First, we traveled there privately, admiring nature, culture, monuments and experiencing great kindness and hospitality from the hosts. From the love of Georgia, our first project was born: “Development of tourist potential in the Imereti region”.
Visiting Georgia and conversations with its inhabitants convinced us of the huge tourist potential of this country and at the same time showed places and areas where development aid could bring many positive changes. Our support therefore went to the region of Imeretia, Racha and Mergrelia, significantly contributing to their development in terms of tourism.
Subsequent ICAD Foundation projects in Georgia have expanded the area of assistance we have provided so far to include activities to support tourists arriving in this country. Our administrative and organizational support for creating mountain rescue structures in Georgia is not only unique in the whole region, but also unprecedented due to the participation of Polish mountain rescue services: Mountain Volunteer Ambulance Service and Tatra Volunteer Ambulance Service.
However, we admit that all this would be extremely difficult to carry out were it not for the people we met on our way and the enormous work of project partners who put a lot of energy into our common work.
We are still present in Georgia. Of course, we do not lack ideas for further projects that will complement the tourist potential and sustainable development of this country in a complementary way.
