Visegrad Fund Projects

EXCHANGE OF SPECIALIST EXPERIENCE IN ORDER TO IMPROVE MOUNTAIN RESCUE STRUCTURES IN GEORGIA. PART II

The aim of the project is to further transfer specialist knowledge and experience in the field of mountain rescue from Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to rescuers in Georgia. Thanks to the support of the Visegrad Fund, in 2019 it was possible to successfully implement the fallowing trainings: work with a medical dispatcher, including work with GPS and training in topography and work with GPS, along with the work regulations of a medical dispatcher. Last year’s financing by the Visegrad Fund and professional and fruitful implementation of training from rescue teams from three Visegrad countries and local partner Geopl.eu, as well as involvement and support from project beneficiaries from Mountain Rescue in Gerogia, enabled us to plan the project in 2020, necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic. Training in 2020 includes: advanced topography and cartography, equipment and transport training in the light of epidemiological threats – elements of prevention against COVID-19. Advanced training in topography and cartography is essential to develop the knowledge and skills of Mountain Rescue in Goergia members acquired during the 2019 project. Thanks to the training the MRG organization, will be able to develop further and add specialists to the rescue teams, thus increasing the safety of rescuers and victims of accidents in the mountains.

During the project 6 members of the MRG who in January 2020 achieved the level of mountain rescue instructors in Georgia, will be supporting the trainers from Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia in conducting classes. Thanks to this, they will be able to develop their instructor qualifications.  Polish, Czech Republic, and Slovakia mountain rescue services have a great experience, training Turing the project, will increase the efficiency level of mountain rescue in Georgia.

Mountain rescue services in Georgia are the results of: an initiative of a local partner in Georgia, the Geopl.eu; the efforts of the ICAD Foundation and the Mountain Rescue in Georgia “Safety in the mountains” organization. You can read the whole story of mountain rescue formation here.

Project activities are aimed to conduct training for the MRG staff that will enable them to educate future generations of rescuers in Georgia.
